La Tronche is a commune in Isère with 4,241 registered voters, the 43rd largest of the département's 510 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 60% of them voted, more than the 55.5% across Isère, and LA TRONCHE VIVANTE ET SOLIDAIRE won 23 of the council's 29 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 35.2%, France Unbowed 23.3%, Greens 12%. National Rally did 14 points worse here than across France.
