La Verpillière is a commune in Isère with 4,550 registered voters, the 38th largest of the département's 510 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 60.3% of them voted, more than the 55.5% across Isère, and the list led by Emmanuel Damato won 22 of the council's 29 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 27.6%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 24.4%, France Unbowed 22.6%. National Rally did 4 points better here than across France.
