La Iruela is a municipality in the province of Jaén with 1,910 inhabitants, the 60th largest of its 97 municipalities. Its council has 9 seats, and 5 make a majority to choose the mayor.
In May 2023 PSOE came first with 56.9% of the vote and 5 seats, an absolute majority; PP was second with 4. 78.3% of the 1,598 voters on the roll cast a valid vote.
