Varzay is a commune in Charente-Maritime with 736 registered voters, the 166th largest of the département's 462 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 63.5% of them voted, more than the 58.7% across Charente-Maritime, and OSONS ENSEMBLE POUR VARZAY won 13 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.
In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 29%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 23.5%, France Unbowed 19.5%. National Rally did 6 points better here than across France.
