Gerena is a municipality in the province of Sevilla with 7,774 inhabitants, the 46th largest of its 106 municipalities. Its council has 13 seats, and 7 make a majority to choose the mayor.

In May 2023 PSOE-A came first with 50.2% of the vote and 8 seats, an absolute majority; CON ANDALUCÍA was second with 4. 62.2% of the 6,114 voters on the roll cast a valid vote.
