Sopuerta is a municipality in the province of Bizkaia with 2,698 inhabitants, the 49th largest of its 112 municipalities. Its council has 11 seats, and 6 make a majority to choose the mayor.
In May 2023 EH BILDU came first with 45.4% of the vote and 6 seats, an absolute majority; EAJ-PNV was second with 3. 62.1% of the 2,174 voters on the roll cast a valid vote.
