Varennes-sur-Seine is a commune in Seine-et-Marne with 2,471 registered voters, the 85th largest of the département's 506 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 65.4% of them voted, more than the 51.6% across Seine-et-Marne, and ENSEMBLE UN NOUVEL ÉLAN POUR VARENNES won 21 of the council's 27 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 34.2%, National Rally 27.6%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 17.7%. France Unbowed did 12 points better here than across France.
