Limonest is a commune in Rhône with 2,916 registered voters, the 80th largest of the département's 266 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 68.1% of them voted, more than the 56.7% across Rhône, and LIMONEST ENSEMBLE POUR DEMAIN won 24 of the council's 27 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 39.3%, National Rally 17.1%, Reconquête 15.3%. France Unbowed did 13 points worse here than across France.
