Gelles is a commune in Puy-de-Dôme with 797 registered voters, the 112th largest of the département's 461 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 81.1% of them voted, more than the 60.5% across Puy-de-Dôme, and Agir pour Demain à Gelles won 12 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 29.2%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 24.6%, France Unbowed 12.2%. France Unbowed did 10 points worse here than across France.
