Hagetmau is a commune in Landes with 3,694 registered voters, the 21st largest of the département's 327 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 76.3% of them voted, more than the 63.7% across Landes, and HAGETMAU AU COEUR won 24 of the council's 27 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 31.5%, National Rally 20.7%, Others 12.9%. Others did 10 points better here than across France.
