Salazie is a commune in La Réunion with 6,358 registered voters, the 19th largest of the département's 24 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 66.5% of them voted, more than the 55.3% across La Réunion, and UNE NOUVELLE ENERGIE POUR SALAZIE won 26 of the council's 29 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 34.8%, France Unbowed 31.9%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 19.9%. National Rally did 11 points better here than across France.
