Champagnole is a commune in Jura with 5,653 registered voters, the 3rd largest of the département's 490 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 52.1% of them voted, fewer than the 57.6% across Jura, and Vive Champagnole won 25 of the council's 29 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 26.4%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 24.6%, France Unbowed 22.8%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 3 points worse here than across France.
