Cournonterral is a commune in Hérault with 5,680 registered voters, the 31st largest of the département's 341 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 60% of them voted, close to the 60% across Hérault, and COURNONTERRAL POUR VOUS won 22 of the council's 29 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 34%, France Unbowed 21.2%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 19.8%. National Rally did 11 points better here than across France.
