Awala-Yalimapo is a commune in Guyane with 766 registered voters, the 18th largest of the département's 22 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 80.7% of them voted, more than the 48.6% across Guyane, and AVEC VOUS POUR AWALA-YALIMAPO won 15 of the council's 19 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 52.3%, National Rally 18.8%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 17.2%. France Unbowed did 30 points better here than across France.
