Le Haillan is a commune in Gironde with 8,506 registered voters, the 28th largest of the département's 534 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 62.9% of them voted, more than the 58.7% across Gironde, and the list led by Eric Poulliat won 25 of the council's 33 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 33.5%, France Unbowed 20.2%, National Rally 18.1%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 6 points better here than across France.
