Plouguiel is a commune in Côtes-d'Armor with 1,518 registered voters, the 85th largest of the département's 341 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 72.2% of them voted, more than the 64.4% across Côtes-d'Armor, and Plouguiel, Gardons le cap ! won 16 of the council's 19 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 27.1%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 24.7%, National Rally 22.7%. France Unbowed did 5 points better here than across France.
