Coltines is a commune in Cantal with 389 registered voters, the 74th largest of the département's 249 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 85.3% of them voted, more than the 71% across Cantal, and the list led by Didier Amarger won 9 of the council's 11 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 38.1%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 19.2%, France Unbowed 19.2%. National Rally did 15 points better here than across France.
