Verdun is a commune in Ariège with 217 registered voters, the 118th largest of the département's 325 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 88.9% of them voted, more than the 64% across Ariège, and VERDUN AUTREMENT won 9 of the council's 11 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 26.3%, National Rally 19.9%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 17.3%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 10 points worse here than across France.
