Saint-Montan is a commune in Ardèche with 1,721 registered voters, the 36th largest of the département's 334 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 69.5% of them voted, more than the 62.2% across Ardèche, and SAINT MONTAN, CONTINUONS ENSEMBLE won 16 of the council's 19 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 30.8%, France Unbowed 22.4%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 19.6%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 8 points worse here than across France.
