Aubenas is a commune in Ardèche with 7,913 registered voters, the 3rd largest of the département's 334 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 54.3% of them voted, fewer than the 62.2% across Ardèche, and the list led by Jean-Romain Ribeyre won 26 of the council's 33 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 26.7%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 23.9%, National Rally 21.1%. France Unbowed did 5 points better here than across France.
