Le Nouvion-en-Thiérache is a commune in Aisne with 1,726 registered voters, the 23rd largest of the département's 797 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 67.7% of them voted, more than the 56.3% across Aisne, and the list led by Erick Betremieux won 14 of the council's 19 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 42.2%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 24.4%, France Unbowed 13.9%. National Rally did 19 points better here than across France.
