Galapagar is a municipality in the province of Madrid with 34,834 inhabitants, the 26th largest of its 179 municipalities. Its council has 21 seats, and 11 make a majority to choose the mayor.

In May 2023 PP came first with 41.2% of the vote and 10 seats; PSOE was second with 4. 67.3% of the 24,951 voters on the roll cast a valid vote.
