Plougonvelin is a commune in Finistère with 3,818 registered voters, the 41st largest of the département's 276 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 69.3% of them voted, more than the 60.9% across Finistère, and the list led by Stéphane Corre won 21 of the council's 27 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 39.1%, France Unbowed 17%, National Rally 16.6%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 11 points better here than across France.
