Sant Joan Despí is a municipality in the province of Barcelona with 34,039 inhabitants, the 29th largest of its 311 municipalities. Its council has 21 seats, and 11 make a majority to choose the mayor.

In May 2023 PSC-CP came first with 49.3% of the vote and 13 seats, an absolute majority; SJDECP - C was second with 3. 57.6% of the 26,018 voters on the roll cast a valid vote.
