Esparreguera is a municipality in the province of Barcelona with 22,365 inhabitants, the 43rd largest of its 311 municipalities. Its council has 21 seats, and 11 make a majority to choose the mayor.

In May 2023 PSC-CP came first with 32.5% of the vote and 8 seats; ERC - AM was second with 3. 48.8% of the 17,001 voters on the roll cast a valid vote.
