Castellar del Vallès is a municipality in the province of Barcelona with 24,933 inhabitants, the 40th largest of its 311 municipalities. Its council has 21 seats, and 11 make a majority to choose the mayor.

In May 2023 SOM DE CASTELLAR-PSC-CP came first with 47.8% of the vote and 12 seats, an absolute majority; ERC - AM was second with 4. 55.7% of the 19,668 voters on the roll cast a valid vote.
