Bougival is a commune in Yvelines with 6,156 registered voters, the 45th largest of the département's 259 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 48.6% of them voted, fewer than the 54.4% across Yvelines, and the list led by Nathalie Jaquemet won 22 of the council's 29 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 40.9%, France Unbowed 15.7%, Reconquête 11.3%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 13 points better here than across France.
