Talmont-Saint-Hilaire is a commune in Vendée with 8,132 registered voters, the 9th largest of the département's 253 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 62.1% of them voted, more than the 59.4% across Vendée, and DU COEUR A L'ACTION won 25 of the council's 29 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 34%, National Rally 23.7%, France Unbowed 12.4%. France Unbowed did 10 points worse here than across France.
