Soullans is a commune in Vendée with 3,988 registered voters, the 31st largest of the département's 253 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 66.2% of them voted, more than the 59.4% across Vendée, and D'UNION ET D'INTÉRÊT COMMUNAL won 22 of the council's 27 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 31.4%, National Rally 28.6%, France Unbowed 13.1%. France Unbowed did 9 points worse here than across France.
