Maillezais is a commune in Vendée with 715 registered voters, the 187th largest of the département's 253 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 61.3% of them voted, close to the 59.4% across Vendée, and UNIS POUR MAILLEZAIS won 15 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 32%, National Rally 22.8%, France Unbowed 14.3%. France Unbowed did 8 points worse here than across France.
