Irigny is a commune in Rhône with 6,716 registered voters, the 31st largest of the département's 266 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 61.4% of them voted, more than the 56.7% across Rhône, and the list led by Nathalie Sanlaville won 22 of the council's 29 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 30.6%, France Unbowed 20.6%, National Rally 20.1%. National Rally did 3 points worse here than across France.
