Chassieu is a commune in Rhône with 8,328 registered voters, the 25th largest of the département's 266 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 59.9% of them voted, more than the 56.7% across Rhône, and the list led by Stéphane Dante won 25 of the council's 33 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 32.7%, National Rally 20.6%, France Unbowed 17.1%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 5 points better here than across France.
