Marquixanes is a commune in Pyrénées-Orientales with 426 registered voters, the 108th largest of the département's 226 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 65% of them voted, more than the 61.5% across Pyrénées-Orientales, and BIEN VIVRE A MARQUIXANES won 12 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 30%, France Unbowed 29.3%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 13.7%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 14 points worse here than across France.
