Estagel is a commune in Pyrénées-Orientales with 1,789 registered voters, the 56th largest of the département's 226 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 69.9% of them voted, more than the 61.5% across Pyrénées-Orientales, and NOTRE VILLE ESTAGEL won 16 of the council's 19 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 37.7%, France Unbowed 20.6%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 15%. National Rally did 14 points better here than across France.
