Vertolaye is a commune in Puy-de-Dôme with 438 registered voters, the 213th largest of the département's 461 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 60% of them voted, close to the 60.5% across Puy-de-Dôme, and VERTOLAYE, ENVIE D'AVENIR won 15 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 33.6%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 22.2%, France Unbowed 14.1%. National Rally did 10 points better here than across France.
