Tauves is a commune in Puy-de-Dôme with 671 registered voters, the 140th largest of the département's 461 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 86.9% of them voted, more than the 60.5% across Puy-de-Dôme, and DYNAMIQUE ET REALISTE - ENSEMBLE POUR TAUVES won 12 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 27.8%, National Rally 20%, France Unbowed 13%. France Unbowed did 9 points worse here than across France.
