Cunlhat is a commune in Puy-de-Dôme with 904 registered voters, the 104th largest of the département's 461 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 77.2% of them voted, more than the 60.5% across Puy-de-Dôme, and Vivons Cunlhat Ensemble won 12 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 28.3%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 24.3%, National Rally 16.2%. National Rally did 7 points worse here than across France.
