Maubeuge is a commune in Nord with 18,331 registered voters, the 12th largest of the département's 647 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 45.8% of them voted, fewer than the 54.3% across Nord, and Ensemble.Maubeuge avance ! won 27 of the council's 35 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 34.8%, National Rally 31.3%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 18.5%. France Unbowed did 13 points better here than across France.
