At the municipal election of March 2026 69.5% of them voted, more than the 61% across Nièvre, and Ensemble pour Saint-Martin-sur-Nohain won 10 of the council's 11 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 37.1%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 20.3%, France Unbowed 17.2%. National Rally did 14 points better here than across France.
