Alligny-en-Morvan is a commune in Nièvre with 550 registered voters, the 58th largest of the département's 308 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 73.1% of them voted, more than the 61% across Nièvre, and Une équipe d'expérience, un engagement renouvelé won 13 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 35.4%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 22.9%, Reconquête 11.7%. National Rally did 12 points better here than across France.
