Fontoy is a commune in Moselle with 2,379 registered voters, the 57th largest of the département's 724 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 39.5% of them voted, fewer than the 53.8% across Moselle, and FONTOY ENSEMBLE won 23 of the council's 23 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 33.9%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 21.9%, France Unbowed 19.8%. National Rally did 10 points better here than across France.
