Sautron is a commune in Loire-Atlantique with 6,696 registered voters, the 30th largest of the département's 207 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 65.6% of them voted, more than the 58.3% across Loire-Atlantique, and Un nouvel élan pour Sautron won 24 of the council's 29 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 41%, National Rally 14.2%, France Unbowed 13.9%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 13 points better here than across France.
