Le Pouliguen is a commune in Loire-Atlantique with 4,717 registered voters, the 57th largest of the département's 207 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 66% of them voted, more than the 58.3% across Loire-Atlantique, and LE POULIGUEN AUTREMENT, L'ENGAGEMENT CONTINUE won 21 of the council's 27 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 39.3%, National Rally 17%, France Unbowed 11.3%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 12 points better here than across France.
