Montholier is a commune in Jura with 268 registered voters, the 178th largest of the département's 490 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 56.7% of them voted, close to the 57.6% across Jura, and ENSEMBLE ECOUTER AGIR won 11 of the council's 11 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 33.5%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 24.6%, Republicans 8.4%. France Unbowed did 16 points worse here than across France.
