Voiron is a commune in Isère with 15,842 registered voters, the 6th largest of the département's 510 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 57.4% of them voted, close to the 55.5% across Isère, and Préservons l'essentiel avec Julien POLAT won 29 of the council's 35 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 30.1%, France Unbowed 25.3%, National Rally 17%. National Rally did 6 points worse here than across France.
