Guichen is a commune in Ille-et-Vilaine with 7,181 registered voters, the 15th largest of the département's 331 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 64.7% of them voted, more than the 59.3% across Ille-et-Vilaine, and the list led by Michèle Motel won 22 of the council's 29 seats after a second round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted Ensemble (Macron camp) 33%, France Unbowed 24%, National Rally 15.5%. National Rally did 8 points worse here than across France.
