Quarante is a commune in Hérault with 1,394 registered voters, the 128th largest of the département's 341 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 66.8% of them voted, more than the 60% across Hérault, and BIEN VIVRE A QUARANTE won 18 of the council's 19 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 33.5%, France Unbowed 20.2%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 16.1%. Ensemble (Macron camp) did 12 points worse here than across France.
