Valay is a commune in Haute-Saône with 443 registered voters, the 90th largest of the département's 531 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 45.4% of them voted, fewer than the 62.1% across Haute-Saône, and Ensemble, au coeur de Valay won 15 of the council's 15 seats in the first round.
In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 47.6%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 17.6%, France Unbowed 10.6%. National Rally did 24 points better here than across France.
