Coutras is a commune in Gironde with 6,762 registered voters, the 35th largest of the département's 534 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 60.3% of them voted, close to the 58.7% across Gironde, and AGIR ET ENTREPRENDRE POUR COUTRAS won 23 of the council's 29 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted National Rally 35.9%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 22.4%, France Unbowed 18.3%. National Rally did 13 points better here than across France.
