Vernouillet is a commune in Eure-et-Loir with 7,804 registered voters, the 5th largest of the département's 363 communes. At the municipal election of March 2026 43.1% of them voted, fewer than the 52.8% across Eure-et-Loir, and Vernouillet notre ville won 28 of the council's 33 seats in the first round.

In the first round of the 2022 presidential election the commune voted France Unbowed 45.4%, Ensemble (Macron camp) 20.2%, National Rally 19.8%. France Unbowed did 23 points better here than across France.
